Abstract

The subjectofthispaperistoidentifythemostsuitablelocationfortheinstallationofsolarpanelpower plant intheMunicipalityofKnjaževac(EastSerbia).Digitalelevationmodel(DEM)oftheareaofinterest wasconstructedusingGeomediaProGridmodule.Thepotentialinsolationofmunicipalitywasdeter- mined usingtheobtainedDEMforthesummerandwintersolsticewhichrepresentslongestand shortest dayinayear(June21standDecember21st,2015),whichallowedcalculatingthemeanannual potentialinsolation.Sixclassesoflandusewereidentified usingmultispectralanalysisofLandsat 8 satelliteimages.Threebestlocationsforthesolarpanelinstallationwereidentified bymulti-criteria AHP analysisusingmeanpotentialinsolation,meancloudinessforcorrespondingmonths,meantem- perature,gradeandaspect,landuseclassesandsimplicityofavailabilityofthelocations.Theobtained data indicatethattheuseofsolarradiationinKnjaževacmunicipalityiseconomicallyfeasibleasa supplementary sourceofenergy
