Abstract
To realise the right to education for all including persons with disabilities, so-called “inclusive education” has been advocated and implemented worldwide. In recent years, students with disabilities in Serbia have been supported through the application of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) in primary and secondary schools. By referring to the official statistical data for 9 consecutive school years and several publications discussing the application of inclusive education in the country, this contribution examines the extent to which children with disabilities have been supported by IEPs, and the factors that could have contributed to this. It was found that IEPs were applied more often in primary and lowersecondary education than in upper-secondary education. Such a situation could be influenced by access to education, peer acceptance, knowledge and skills complexity, teacher training, teacher training programmes, and governmental policy. The implications for inclusive policy and research are indicated
