Abstract

The first part of the paper contextualizes the formation of Serbian identity on the basis of the socio-historical position of Serbs in Dalmatia. The identity of Sava Vladislavic and Serbs under the Venetian Republic is analyzed as paradigm of Serbian national identity. Then, based on the attempts to deconstruct Serbian identity, through the analysis of stereotypes, personal and collective identity is considered . The aim of this paper is to point out the survival of identity in differ ent historical circumstances and cultural environments. The diversity and multi faceted activity of Vladislavic indicates the richness and ability of a soul that, in consistency with its identity, is not a stranger wherever it is in the world, as the spirit of cosmopolitanism is expressed in the fullest way. In the conclusion of the paper author states that the characteristics of Sava Vladislavic's personality are the basis for the paradigm of Serbian identity.
