Abstract
Since the establishment of the first higher education institutions in Serbia in the 19th century, geometry and technical drawing have been an integral part of curricula. In order to fill the gap in the systematic review of teaching in the education system of that time in Serbia, the paper researches the presence of geometry in the curriculum of the first institutions of higher education in Serbia, at the Lyceum (1838- 1863), in the Great School of Belgrade (1863-1905) and Belgrade University (1905-1914). The contribution of professors to the foundation and development of the subject of geometry and technical drawing as the basic language of graphic communication of engineering and technical knowledge is also presented.
