Abstract

The idea to point out to the establishment of gender question in the context of marking 100 years of sociology in Serbia has been induced by the actuality of this topic as well as the necessity to emphasize the contribution of sociological thought in that sense. This leads us to the feminist sociological discourse which laid foundations to a completely different research perspective, recognizing the importance of gender relations as a social phenomenon. The contribution of the feminist perspective is recognized in the defining of characteristics, illumination of various aspects, singling out key issues, revealing factors and explanations of deterministic basis. The establishing of the gender question based on identifying the differences among women and men as a social construct, means not only promotion of gender relations as a subject of research but also emphasis of the importance of the gender aspect in research so that phenomena and processes within the society could be explained and understood better.
